Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri and June Roesslein Interiors Partner to Support Women Business Leaders of Tomorrow
President Barbara Slavkin Shares Pearls of Career Wisdom
with Girl Scout “Camp CEO” Participants
ST. LOUIS – Ten young women paid a visit to June Roesslein Interiors for a day of designing fun and work-world lessons with President Barbara Slavkin on July 15. The high-school-aged girls worked in teams to create and present a design proposal while discussing challenges and opportunities women face in the business world. The unique field trip was just one outing arranged by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri during its first ever “Camp CEO.”
“It’s so important for girls to explore professional career opportunities and connect with women in the business world early on,” Slavkin said. “These girls really impressed me with their designs and presentations. We had a great time.”
In total, 15 girls signed up to participate in the inaugural session of “Camp CEO.” Participants spent five days at Camp Fiddlecreek in Labadie, Mo., learning leadership, networking and team-building skills, taking field trips to women-owned businesses and enjoying traditional camp activities. The girls also met with local women business leaders who shared their stories of professional success.
Editor’s Note: June Roesslein Interiors makes its headquarters at 17899 Chesterfield Airport Road in Chesterfield, Mo. (63005).
